Implementation of Ajax searching and filtering in all areas of WordPress admin

    Now, I am an avid fan of WordPress, and have built dozens of sites on the platform over the past 6 years. It's quick to build on, easy to learn and fantastic in every area.... almost.

    I think the one area that the administration area is really missing an opportunity at the moment is in it's slow load times when there is a large number of pages/media/custom post types etc. to filter through and display. When searching through images, or trying to find a specific page, this whole process would be significantly sped up through the use of Ajax filtering.

    It's in use on some areas of WordPress already (such as when linking to a page), so I'm still suprised when such a small amount of areas uses it. The new media area in WP 3.5 may do, but still not in the 'Media' tab!

    Please like if you want this implemented, hopefully we'll see it in an upcoming release :)

    Yes, PLEASE, WP devs... implement more Ajax filtering! Something like this would be perfect - http://www.cocosuites.com/en/suites/Spain/Barcelona (check the filters on the left side). I did some Google research and found out how to do it here - http://blog.joshsoftware.com/2011/09/28/filter-js-client-side-search-filtering-using-json-and-jquery/ - but I'm not a good enough coder to follow it. :-(

    You are true Oliver. WP developpers need to implement Ajax filtering on media administration. I have a website with thousands pages and media, and it's a very big problem for me. Hope it will work on the next update !

    Just to clarify something, by "WP Developers" you actually mean "everyone who volunteers to write WP code."

    There's no one company or business who is in charge of WP, nor drives its design, the way a traditional software company does. So the answer to why not X is usually "Because no one who is super talented at that has shown up yet and volunteered their time to do it." If this is a big problem for you, the best thing you can do is find someone who can change it, and get them to give time to WP to write the code. Pay for them to do it, if that's what it takes, but that's why this hasn't happened yet.

    I agree with you Ipstenu but are very few good programmers for Ajax. A script like WordPress is very complex, and such a change made ​​by a programmer who does not know very well ajax wordpress can create big problems.
    All in all, a Ajax searching and filtering for admin is not necessary.
