+1 from me. Child themes are in their infancy, but so far they've been so great to WordPress. With their inclusion in the directory theme frameworks, and subsequently child themes, could really take off and change the face of the WordPress theme world.
Have to agree, there are so many good child-themes out there, that stand on the shoulders of giant frameworks.
This would also encourage more people to develop child-themes.
+1 from me. I'm surprised they aren't already supported.
The description of how to do it at http://developdaly.com/wordpress/child-theme-inclusion-in-the-wordpress-directory/ seems reasonable to me.

among other enhancements to the repos...
There are a few work arounds, but this should be a standard feature.
I'm just throwing my vote in for this too.
Some of the best themes I've seen in the last few months have been child themes. Solid parent themes have paved the way for some great designers to make their own themes. By not allowing child themes, we're kind of cutting out their ability to be as involved in the community.
Child themes are definitely here to stay. With entire communities built up around both the Thematic and Hybrid themes (and others), I don't see them going away anytime soon.
+1 from me as well. There are a lot of great child themes out there and I think it would be great if you could get both the parent themes & child themes from the official theme directory.
