Need an "Adopt an Orphaned Plugin program".

A number of widely-used plugins have recently been orphaned, as their authors have moved on to other projects. It would be great if there was a place to identify and solicit programmers to Adopt (take over maintenance of) those poor Orphaned plugins.

For example, the author of Custom Query String has left a note about contacting him to "take them over yourself".

This is a great idea.

A perfect example is Breadcrumb Navigation XT.

I think its the best breadcrumb plugin available, but unfortunately the author no longer supports it.

Its a good idea. I've got far too much free time, I'd happily take on some orphaned plugins.

Only problem is the admin of something like this could end up becoming a full time job.

When identifying orphaned plugins, theres the risk that the creator may not have abandoned it but is just simply taking a break (or whatever) and may not appreciate his code being adopted by another developer.

Someone would need to be responsible for attempting to contact the original author(s) and making sure it really has been abandoned.
