In fact I have a site I've been looking for a way to make multilingual and it has languished while I try multiple plugins that don't work.

This really should be integrated and be a basic feature because you wouldn't want to risk losing your content every time a new version of wordpress is released.

Gengo does that an I am using it but that takes away the possibility to upgrade.

On http://faltiska.net/artblog I am still using 2.2.3 cause I made heavy customizations to the theme and to Gengo itslef to be able to achieve the features I want.

The featres are pretty much what Gengo has today but you can have a look at http://faltiska.net/artblog to see how I implemented it.
