agreed to be important, but i think that OpenID auth is somewhat more important.. the growing number of account registrations users are forced to have is outrageous. I read an article that stated the average user has anywhere between 5-10 accounts they have to memorize.

I think, user accounts should be beefed up to accommodate profile images (not just avatars) more user detailed information

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that think this is a problem. Why can't there be a random validation code the Guest-user has to type in at registration. I see several sites with an image that has a scrambled code that a visitor has to enter befor they can register.

Will WP User Moderation plugin solve this issue?

Also we are working on a new Plugin called WP User Manager, this allows to add extra fields (text, testbox, dropdown etc..), also we can choose to get the details of these extra fields during registration.

these extra fields can be used to define the custom quetions to avoid spam rgistrations.

I'm definitely one of the people who would like to see spam protection during registration in the future. I'm having 3 people sign up per day with spam e-mails, which are clearly spam, but the domains change from one to another.

I don't have any real suggestions for how to make this issue go away, but I will add my voice that it's a problem. I'm seeing several to over a dozen fake registrations at one of my sites.
